Growing My Hair Back

I did my big chop in March 2014 and it was the best thing I could have done. I've always kept a relaxer in my hair and sufferred breakage, so I decided to just cut it off. I've cut my hair before, but have never gone completely natural. This time around, I cut my hair down to 1/2 inch and I was initially afraid of how I would be received by my family and co-workers. But taking that first step was so liberating. After the initial shock, I received so many compliments...my natural hair just felt so soft to the touch. Now, my HUSBAND, that's another issue. He has been wanting me to grow my hair back, and so this is my newest journey. I've been growing my hair back (naturally) for six weeks now and I'm REALLY having a hard time adjusting to the "in-between". I don't know if I have the patience to grow it without the relaxer or to keep from cutting it (to please him). I'm really not loving the afro look on me and I'm just trying to find the right products to compliment my hair texture. My TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro)is currently long enough to twist, but in my opinion, does not look good. I'm struggling to keep that confidence I had six weeks ago. PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks so much for your post and I just want to say how brave you are to make the plunge into natural hair. We hear a lot about people who have support around them when they make the change, but there are those who make that plunge without the support of a group and those people also need to be recognized. So congrats for taking such a plunge.

What I would recommend is getting braid/marley hair extensions and if your hair is long enough to do latch hook braids or just simple braids; you get two bonuses in one: A great protective style which will give you the length you want and will help you leave your hair alone while it is growing out.

There are two ladies who do extensions on growing hair on youtube who are give pretty good advice:
Donedo and lovestarr823
